Installation of concrete and reinforced concrete structures
Concrete and reinforced concrete structures play a fundamental role in construction projects and are known for their strength, durability and versatility. The installation process of these structures includes several main steps:
Site preparation: Before installation begins, the site must be properly prepared for work.
Assembling formwork for construction: Formwork for concrete is usually made of wood, steel or plastic. The final shape and dimensions of the assembled formwork determine the subsequent shape of the concrete.
Placement of reinforcements: For reinforced concrete structures, steel reinforcements (rebars) are placed inside the formwork according to engineering specifications. Reinforcement increases the strength and bearing capacity of concrete.
Concrete Mixing and Pouring: High-quality concrete is made by mixing cement, aggregates (such as sand and gravel), water, and sometimes additives. The concrete is then poured into the mold, filling all the voids evenly.
Curing phase: After pouring, the concrete must go through a hardening process to optimize its strength and durability. This happens over a period of time and usually over several days depending on humidity and temperature conditions.
Removal of formwork: After the concrete has sufficiently hardened and gained strength, the formwork is carefully removed.
Finishing touches: Depending on project requirements, additional finishing touches may be applied to the concrete surface. This includes applying smoothing, texturing or protective coatings to enhance aesthetics and longevity.
Quality Assurance: Throughout the construction process, quality assurance measures are implemented to ensure that concrete and reinforced concrete structures meet the required standards and specifications. This may include testing for strength, durability and compliance with design plans.
