Construction of caissons
Caissons are watertight structures used in construction to work underwater or in areas with unstable soil conditions. Here's how they are typically constructed:
Preparation: Before construction begins, the site is surveyed and prepared. This may involve dredging, leveling, or stabilizing the seabed or soil.
Foundation Installation: A foundation is laid on the seabed or drilled into the soil to provide stability for the caisson. This foundation can be a concrete slab or piles, depending on the site conditions.
Caisson Construction: The caisson itself is built either onshore or in a drydock facility. It is constructed using reinforced concrete or steel, designed to withstand water pressure and support the structure above.
Transportation: Once constructed, the caisson is transported to the site using barges, cranes, or other specialized equipment. Careful coordination is essential to ensure safe and precise placement.
Lowering: The caisson is carefully lowered into position using hydraulic jacks or by flooding its interior chambers with water to increase its weight. This process requires precise control to avoid damage to the structure or surrounding environment.
Sealing: Once in place, the caisson is sealed to prevent water ingress. This may involve grouting around the base or installing seals and gaskets to ensure a watertight seal.
Connection: The caisson is then connected to the rest of the structure, such as a bridge pier or offshore platform. This connection must be strong and secure to withstand environmental forces such as waves, currents, and tides.
Finalization: Any remaining work, such as backfilling around the caisson or installing additional structural elements, is completed to finalize the construction.
Caissons play a crucial role in various construction projects, providing stable foundations in challenging environments such as rivers, lakes, and coastal areas.
On the basis of the license issued by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan on November 1, 2019 under the registration number EL-627/2019, "PROJECT BUILDING CONSTRUCTION" was allowed to install caissons for the construction and installation of buildings and facilities.
